2024 Jan. 03: note: I did some simple improvements to the previous map to add white-space and make it appear less cluttered, and posted it to replace the older previous files but I did not send out a new email informing everyone because it was no content changes. -Marshall Strong From: Strong, Marshall (DNR) Sent: Thur. Dec. 28, 2023, am. Re email sent To: DNR-WLD-ALL , etc. (see the email pls) Subject: NEW updated DNR-WLD regions/sections/units & offices map 2023 Dec. 27+ New rev. “DNR-WLD regions/sections/units & offices map, 2023 Dec. 27+” 1pg map. … access the new files in about 4 hrs or less, for the up-to-date supervisory positions and recent announced changes. Hello! You’re receiving this notice because you’re in a mail group identified for these updates; sorry if duplicates. The same details apply, as I’ve sent before. Access the new files using the links & directions listed below (but need wait for synchronization, so may take ~4? hrs or less; look for content dated 2023 Dec. 27), for the latest office reference 1pg in formats for print, doc insert, and ready slides. Like before, the new changes, file help & more info are provided off the bottom link, below. FYI re: common comment from staff: Yes, there is space at the bottom. Space at the bottom is made for (i.) putting in “Figure” text or moving the inserted map down in the document then putting “Appendice” at top, and also (ii.) is space prepared for adding more FOMs as per Chief’s recent announcements. No reply needed. (Unless notice an error, 😊 pls email me direct/only). -Marshall • Map PDF to print: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pdf . • Map JPG for doc inserts: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.jpg . • PowerPoint file w/ ready slides + a couple variations: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pptx . • If you need more info: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template_notes.txt . A new updated “DNR-Wildlife Division (WLD) regions/sections/units & offices map” is done & off the links below (as per new method): --- * Please use the PDF to print the best version, in either grayscale or color (it works as both): https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pdf . * Please use the JPG image file to insert this 1pg info tool into documents, etc. - and note there's space for 1 single 12 pt line of text either at the bottom or top (if slide graphic down, moving that bottom 1 line space to the top): https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.jpg . * There is a provided PowerPoint file with the updated 1pg as first slide, and several slides with variations on theme of WLD regions, etc.: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pptx . * Notes on changes, directions, etc. if this email is insufficient: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template_notes.txt ... Notes: ----- (1.) METHOD being used: Files are not attached, as attachments makes larger email sizes & adds to everyone’s inbox - plus can contribute to older versions of this ref. handout with outdated/error information being used versus the newest version. To reach the latest versions, I’ve provided long-term stable links below, which are not dependant upon SharePoint, permission settings or limitations. Just select the format you need from offerings in the shorter email above or longer info below, then click & load the latest, save to local for use, & this should work for anyone getting this email in WLD or other Divisions/Offices (meaning not stopped by different sharepoint settings, permissions, etc. which has been a repeat problem in past). If you need or want any of these files locally on your computer or mobile-device/phone, then select the file, load the file, & save to local (steps vary based on what browser you are using). Later, as I update this 1pg ref. product, then I’ll update the map files at links below, & send an email notice out to the same Outlook email groups. This means if you have this email, you should always be able to reach the latest version of these files by using the links below, as I'll keep the same name but update contents as changes. I also provide some longer directions/ notes , for those interested or needing them; see file at link: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template_notes.txt . (2.) Updated “DNR-WLD mgmt. regions, sections, units & offices map” (the WLD RSU 1pg) is shared in 2 formats, plus as slide already in a power-point file. This product was created & intended for internal use, yet like always is ok for public handout, for use as attachment to documents/rpts, for presentation slides, etc. (however, be aware the version with names & phone numbers is always a dated product so may be age if used as slide - look at the simplified versions in last link, as these may serve better for slides): * PDF for best print (8.5x11”) & as https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pdf ' * JPG for inserting into docs or presentation slides. https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.jpg . Note: I try to have space at the bottom of the graphic JPG so that when insert into a whole page in a document, there is space for a Figure number, & title/caption, etc. or page number. If using as an appendice, then insert the jpg into a full page at 8.5x11 inch, & "slide" the jpg down so you have space at top for Appendice #, title, etc. The above JPG file is indeed "busy" as it's used for several things, but perhaps for your anticipated needs a simplier varation may be better; I provide such as a few options ... below. * Powerpoint slide is in: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pptx . (3.) Simplier versions of the above product exist ... If in doubt or if you wish a simpler version of this WLD RSU 1pg handout (like without names or phone numbers, which can & do change within a year, etc.), then be aware there are simpler versions which are now served to you in a pptx file (link below); Simpler versions are more often used as slides or inserted into documents (directions to do that are in the pptx file). Later if I am asked to create other alternate versions, then I’ll put them in the pptx file too: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/huntingwildlifehabitat/DNR_Wildlife_Offices-n-Regions_Map_standard_template.pptx . (4.) Feel free to pass this email on, if needed, to DNR or SOM staff who need the WLD handout. Please do not pass this email to public, as they get other online public-facing resources. Lastly, if there is a consistent Outlook mail group that needs to get these updates (so added to my outgoing email with updates), then please notify me & provide justification on why it's okay to use the Outlook mail group you pass. --- No reply necessary; Hope everyone well, doing well, etc. -Marshall Marshall Strong (he/him/his) Wildlife Mapping & Geotechnology Program Specialist Mi.Dept.of Natural Resources, Wildlife Div., Planning & Adaptation Sec. 517-256-5397 (office+cell+text); strongm@michigan.gov - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (end-of-file)
