Quick Start

Can't be bothered with all the details? We get it. Use the link below but give your images a good description in the upload process. If we can't tell what they are and you haven't described them properly, they won't make it into the collection.

Upload Instructions

  1. Select a topic from the list that matches your picture(s) or video(s).  If you have more than one subject in your media you will want to upload them in batches; for instance, all the deer hunting photos/videos at once, then all the duck hunting, etc.. Click the topic link from the list.

  2. On the page that opens, click Upload Files, browse to the file(s) that you want to upload, select them and click the Open button.

  3. In the new dialog that opens there are four fields, two of them are required, Description and Tags, and two are optional, Keywords and Author.

    • Description: give us a good description of your image(s).  If you're doing a bunch of images at once, they'll all get the same description.

    • Keywords: these are preset, you just choose from a list.  They can be used to help filter a search once they're in place.

    • Tags: these are important, tag your images with words that match the content, like sunrise, campground, firepit, etc.  If the picnic table is way off in the background, don't tag it, just things that make up the subject of the photo.

    • Author: that's you, include your name if you'd like, it's not required.

  4. Click Apply and then it'll take forever to upload if you're connected to VPN, so disconnect, and just wait until it's done to see if there are any errors.

  5. When done uploading, the images will disappear and it will look like nothing happened.  That's good!  Success.

Photo/Video Usage & Rights

By uploading images or videos, you are representing that you have rights and permissions to use these images and to give the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) rights and permission to display these images for marketing and informational purposes with regards to any and all DNR related matters.
