Process Description:
Land cover features interpreted from diapositives of original film according to level II and III modified Anderson/Hardy classification scheme of 52 categories. This interpreted data was transferred to 7.5' USGS topographic quadrangles. The quadrangles were then encoded by either digitizing or scanning methods. Individual quadrangle files were merged to form Public Land Survey township files. All compilation work was performed by local units of government or private consultants under guidelines developed by the Michigan Resource Information System (MIRIS), Michigan Department of Natural Resources. This classification system is available upon request. Labels were checked against original source according to standard MIRIS procedures.
