Description:

Abstract: Created from USGS 7.5 minute Topographic Quadrangles. MIRIS digital base maps used as control reference. Identifies watershed boundaries and the direction of the water flow.
Purpose: Intended for use in determining design flood discharges of 10% frequency or greater. Some agencies have been using these delineations for watershed management and planning.
Supplemental Information:
Watershed boundaries are delineated on average every 20 square miles. In some instances this may not be true. All delineations have not been field verified. At time of delineation best available information was used to determine the watershed boundaries. Delineation period was from 1986-1997.

Process Description:
Line work was hand delineated, checked and digitized using Microstation to fit the MIRIS base. Line work for the Upper Peninsula was cleaned and assembled using Arc/Info on the Windows NT format. Linework for the Lower Peninsula was projected to Michigan GeoRef, cleaned, and assembled in Arc/Info. Cleaned coverages were unprojected. Individual basins were selected from coverages and converted to shapefiles.
